The Bigs are; Big lake North, Big Lake South and Rocky Lake State Recreation Sites. The three parks are located in Big Lake, Alaska, about 10 miles southwest of Wasilla, in the heart of Southcentral Alaska. An easy drive from Anchorage, the parks offer locals and visitors a chance to relax and and enjoy Alaska at it's best.

With more than 60 miles of shoreline and 23 islands, Big Lake offers recreational boaters and fishermen an opportunity to enjoy time out on the water whether playing on jet skis, water skiing, swimming or fishing for world class Arctic Char there is fun for everyone at The Bigs.
Winter Wonderland!
When winter sets in and the lakes freeze up; you'll find the lakes crisscrossed by ice roads and hundreds of miles of groomed trails that take snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, and dog sled enthusiasts straight into the backcountry. You can ride or ski the famous Iditarod Trail, take part in the Big Lake Winterfest, watch the start of the Iron Dog Snowmobile Race, or just take a cruise through the winter backcountry.

Big Lake North

Sometimes called North Shore Campground, Big Lake North is the largest of the Bigs with more than 100 sites. The park features 8 walk-in tent sites, 2 Boat Launches with a dock, a swim area and beach, 4 pavilions, and 6 restrooms. Big Lake North also features a Camp Store stocked with ice cream, snacks, water toys, firewood, ice, and limited RV & Camping supplies.

 

Driving Directions: From mile 52.3 Parks Highway, take the Big Lake Road 3.6 miles to North Shore Dr. at the "Y", take the right of the “Y”, drive 1.4 miles to the end of road where you’ll find the Park Entrance.

 

Premium Camp sites $25 per night-per vehicle/per space

Regular Camp sites $20 per night-per vehicle/per space

Boat Launch $15 per day- per launch (includes parking 7:am-10:pm)

Day Use $7   per day-per vehicle (7:am-10:pm)

Big Lake South

Much smaller than North Shore, Big Lake South features 23 RV and parking sites and 8 walk-in tent sites, 3 of which sit right on the lake!

Driving Directions: From mile 52.3 Parks Highway, take South Big Lake Road approximately 5 miles, cross the Fish Creek bridge, the park entrance is about 400 yards past the bridge on the right.

Boat Launch $15 per day- per launch (includes parking 7:am-10:pm)
Day Use $7   per day-per vehicle (7:am-10:pm)

Rocky Lake

*Lake Side Camping*Fishing*Boat Launch*

The smallest of The Bigs, Rocky Lake, has only 11 campsites for tent or RV campers, 4 sites are on the water. It's well forested and more intimate than our other parks. RV's and Campers are limited to 30ft. or less. Jet powered watercraft are NOT allowed on Rocky Lake.

Driving Directions: From Mile 52.3 Parks Highway, take Big Lake Road 3.3 miles to Beaver Lake Road. Follow Beaver Lake Rd. 1/4 of a mile, turn left on Rocky Lake Dr. The park is located on the left.
